There are four phrases I come back to again and again in my own life, in my business, and with the leaders I work with from across the world. Every time I use them or share them, something shifts. Not in a vague, magical way, but in a very real one.
Because the language we use is the expression of the identity we're operating from. And most leaders - unknowingly - are using language that anchors them into an identity and operating system that simply isn't serving them.
These four phrases change that. They change who you are when you think, when you feel, when you choose, when you create, when you strategise, when you lead. And that, of course, changes everything.
Phrase One: I'm Not Available to This
At first glance, this might sound like a boundary-setting tool - a way of communicating when something goes against your values or your standards. And yes, it's that. When someone says or does something that takes you out of your highest integrity, simply saying I'm not available to this is a powerful way of holding your standard.
But the deeper work here is about identity curation.
You see, we are constantly receiving input from our environment - from the news, from the market, from the people around us, from our own inner critic. Things are slowing down. There aren't enough resources. This isn't possible. You need to be careful. And often, without even realising it, we absorb those narratives. We let them become part of our identity, our operating system, the lens through which we think and create and lead.
I'm not available to this is how you become conscious about what you let in.
When I hear that the market is contracting, or that things are getting harder, or that I should dial back - I don't have to argue with it or fight it. I simply say: I accept that this is one point of view. And I'm not available to it. It will not be part of my identity, my configuration of self, my universe.
That's how extraordinary leaders consciously curate who they are. And it's a rarer skill than most people realise.
Phrase Two: If Anything Was Possible For Me, What Would I Love to Choose Here?
This phrase does something that no strategic blueprint ever can. It moves you out of what I call reactive consciousness - scanning the market, watching what everyone else is doing, filling gaps, mimicking, staying safe - and into fully creative consciousness. Magician consciousness.
Most leaders operate reactively. They react to conditions, to competition, to fear. And from that place, they stay limited.
When you ask yourself if anything was possible for me, what would I love to choose here? - you go beyond all of that. You go into your heart, which holds a higher intelligence than your ego-mind ever will. And when something truly expands your heart in response to that question, you know you've tapped into something real. Something your reactive, careful, safety-seeking mind could never have accessed.
The most extraordinary solutions, ideas, and strategic directions I've ever received have come from this question. Not from careful analysis or market research, but from this.
Next time you feel stuck - don't force an answer. Ask the question, and let it land in its own time.
Phrase Three: I Choose This. It's Done.
Simple. And yet it is the antidote to the overthinking, overcomplicating, and overanalysing that keeps so many brilliant leaders stuck at the same level, year after year.
Have you ever sat on a decision far longer than you needed to, running through every possible option, trying to find the right one? Trying to make sure you wouldn't lose anything, miss anything, get it wrong?
Here's what I say to every leader I work with: don't try to make the right decision. Make your decision right.
When you've dropped into creative consciousness with the second phrase and you feel that heart expansion - maybe two or three options present themselves. You notice which one expands your heart a little more. And then you simply say: I choose this. It's done.
Not from fear of making a mistake. Not from a need to have all the information first. From a committed choice that you then make right through the quality of your energy, your focus, and your devotion.
All extraordinary results begin not with a perfect plan, but with a committed choice.
I choose this. It's done. Say it more often. Say it faster. Watch what changes.
Phrase Four: I Love My Vision More Than My Fears
Or: I love my clients more than my doubts. I love my work more than the chatter in my mind. Make it your own.
Because here is the truth about extraordinary leadership and extraordinary results: you will feel fear. You will feel doubt. There will be moments where part of you says you're not ready, you shouldn't do this, it's too risky, it's too much.
That is your little human - the part of you whose entire job is to keep you safe, to protect you from change, to keep your identity exactly as it is today. And it will always be loudest right at the threshold of your next level.
This phrase isn't about silencing that voice. It's about acknowledging it and choosing something greater anyway. Because it's precisely through that discomfort - that nervousness or doubt you feel in your body - that you are becoming more. That you are stepping into and embodying a higher level identity.
I love my vision more than my fears keeps you in that devotional leadership. It keeps you trusting your vision, letting it guide your choices, even when it's uncomfortable, even when it's risky, even when it's hard.
And that, my dear one, is what separates extraordinary leaders from everyone else. It separates you from the life and business you're tired of, and moves you into the identity where so much more becomes possible.
